Welcome to Turquoise Animal Chiropractic's website! Our motto is "MOTION IS LIFE." Through the combination of animal chiropractic, staying active, and diet**, health can be achieved and maintained for animals, whether they are competition or companion animals. Animal chiropractic focuses on restoring and maintaining motion within the spine and extremities to prevent and treat many musculoskeletal disorders. Animals of all sizes, from small dogs to large draft horses, can benefit from animal chiropractic.
Animal chiropractic is not much different from human chiropractic. Animal chiropractors perform a chiropractic and gait analysis, along with a neurological exam, to evaluate the health of the spinal and extremity joints of the body, and the health of the nervous system. The chiropractic analysis involves static and motion palpation of the joints, muscles, and ligaments to determine if there is an area that is restricted in its motion. Chiropractors term this lack of motion within the joint, a subluxation. The nervous system is the master system of the body, controlling all organs, muscles, and systems of the body. When a subluxation is present, the nervous system cannot function properly and dysfunction occurs. This dysfunction can be in the form of pain, muscle spasm, decrease range of motion, muscle atrophy, muscle weakness, decreased performance, behavioral problems, neurological deficits, organ dysfunction, and decreased immune function. Chiropractors alleviate subluxations with a chiropractic adjustment. This adjustment is done by hand, and is a low force, high speed impulse into the restricted joint that allows motion and function to be restored to that area. Restoration of nervous system function allows the body's innate intelligence to heal the body, returning the body back to homeostasis or the natural balance of the body. Innate intelligence is the body's inner ability to heal itself. Think about it....if the body is wounded (i.e. - a cut or laceration), the body will heal that area, over time, without any intervention. Chiropractic is a holistic approach to the traditional medical/veterinary views that simply aids the body in repairing injured or malfunctioning areas. Chiropractors believe in prevention of disease, with minimal or no use of medications, other than natural supplements. However, animal chiropractors do not claim to provide veterinary diagnosis/care or provide nutritional advice for animals. They work with fellow veterinarians to treat musculoskeletal conditions only.

**Animal chiropractors DO NOT provide nutritional advice for animals or diagnose veterinary conditions. However, they do work closely with licensed veterinarians to obtain optimum health of your animals.
